The Veterans Service Commission is a county agency funded entirely by Wayne County real estate taxes dedicated to assisting the veterans of Wayne County and their dependents in time of need. Certain rights and benefits may be obtained from the county, state and federal governments. We are able to advise and assist on these matters under the laws of the State of Ohio, Sec. 5901 of the revised code.
We are not a branch of the Department of Veterans Affairs.
Accredited Representatives:
The County Veterans Service Officers are accredited by the Department of Veterans Affairs, and are certified by the Ohio Department of Veteran Services. The DVA acknowledges our professional services. We work closely with the DVA to achieve a common goal, and to assist the veteran in obtaining his/her rightful benefits under the law.
The County Veterans Service Commissioners are a group of five veterans whose members are composed of one representative from each of the following organizations: The American Legion, American Veterans, Disable American Veterans, Veterans of Foreign Wars, and the Vietnam Veterans of America.
